PeaceTech has caught the attention of one of the Middle East ’s most prominent peace advocates. Her Majesty, Queen Rania Al-Abdullah of Jordan , will directly address hundreds of Filipino youth gathering in Mindanao and Quezon City in a taped-video message for the final day of the mass video dialogue series.
Her Majesty’s message opens “PeaceTech 6: The Decision Makers” — a mass video dialogue uniting the Philippines ’ leaders with youth from all over Mindanao and Luzon .
Its goal: to give young people that ultimate opportunity to speak directly with the leaders who make the big decisions.
“This is not just ‘people power’. This is ‘youth power’!” says PeaceTech’s Robin Pettyfer. “What we are doing is leveraging technology not only to build solidarity between youth from Mindanao and Luzon , but to give youth of all backgrounds that ‘democratic chance’ to speak with the country’s leaders. How often does a young person from war-torn N.Cotobato get the chance to speak with a leading politician, business person or media director? It’s rare. But technology can change that.”
PeaceTech 6 is on the final day of PeaceTech’s first series in the Philippines . After the question and answer period, youth leaders from Mindanao and Luzon will agree on final resolutions that they will take to the media and to the government.
